Purposes of education and research
Based on an understanding of the care rooted in the history and culture of Okinawa, this doctoral program aims to foster cultivate educators and researchers with advanced research skills who will conduct independent research on nursing and who will contribute to the development of nursing in order to improve people's health and quality of life.
Objectives
(1) To cultivate educators and researchers with advanced research skills who will conduct independent research on nursing and contribute to the development of nursing science in order to improve people's health and quality of life based on the caring culture in Okinawa.
(2) To prepare graduates to lead the continuing education of nurses who will drive health care in the local community of Okinawa Prefecture and the rest of Japan.
(3) To prepare graduates to lead the improvement and reform of nursing practices based on research on various issues in care settings.

Master's Degree (Nursing)
Research in nursing with roots in Yanbaru's unique nursing care culture.
Students will understand regional characteristics and acquire creative nursing skills.
Students will study the practices of nursing models based on the theory of caring and models with citizen participation where citizens and residents play the main role. Based on the practices, they will learn the skills they require to practice creative nursing and solve health issues in Northern Okinawa. Students will also learn nursing management skills that will allow them to work with, make adjustments with, and instruct people from other job types, as well as acquire organizational abilities to expand the role of nursing.
Students will learn regional characteristics and nursing education, while acquiring research skills based in the region's culture of nursing care.
Students will gain a deep understanding of the regional characteristics of Northern Okinawa prefecture as a center of education and research, research on the region's culture of nursing care, and learn to become educators or researchers with skills in nursing education. The program will also help them create their own models of ever-developing nursing jobs by further developing their own views on nursing.
