We foster a nursing profession which can defend the right to a healthy life and the dignity of each and every individual. In addition, we cultivate talented individuals who can contribute extensively to the region and who can continue to grow as nursing professionals, acquiring the power both to educate and evaluate themselves.
We have developed a curriculum based on “participatory nursing education” whereby students grow by taking on leading roles as independent learners and by making as their goal the improvement of their ability to practice the nursing profession. Among the abilities for practicing this profession, the most important competencies are being able to pursue answers to problems, to educate oneself, and to evaluate oneself. Moreover, we have generalized these core abilities as an ability to carry out commitments. Embodying this philosophy, we provide many programs exhibiting the three types of dialogue described below.
1. Dialoguing with oneself
Students aim for career development as professional nurses while deepening their self-understanding through an internal dialogue.
2. Dialoguing with the other
By spontaneously engaging in a dialogue with staff, faculty and friends on campus, students become more deeply involved in educational activities occurring both inside and outside the classroom.
3. Dialoguing with the region
Students interact with the local population through the nursing practicum program and field activities, and through these dialogues inherit and develop the culture of caring.
